Purpose of the site

kodpocztowy.eu: This site presents factual postal information for European countries and nearby territories included in the project scope. Pages show the latest known update date for displayed data.

The service is currently operated as an informational website. Publisher details can be completed when the final administrative information for the project is supplied.

Data sources

Data is consolidated from European open datasets, national databases and official APIs already integrated into the project. Licences, reuse conditions and precision levels remain those of the original producers.

• GeoNames Postal Codes - Global postal-code to locality fallback. Already imported as the base layer.
• Eurostat GISCO Postal Codes - European coordinates, NUTS and statistical zones enrichment.
• OpenStreetMap / Geofabrik / Nominatim - Fallback for localities, admin boundaries, autocomplete and geocoding.

Integrated national sources

Accuracy and corrections

Postcodes can evolve and some databases publish different detail levels depending on the country. A town can therefore be linked to several postcodes, or a postcode to several localities. The site merges duplicates when possible and keeps useful search information.
